so I'm Megan is scared I'm the proud principal of sun-kissed Elementary and I'd like to just share a couple of facts about why we really are so proud to have our dual language program in Spanish here at sunkiss first of all the benefits are multi we are creating multilingual children we're creating an awareness of multiculturalism and most importantly we're on the pathway to buy literacy and by literacy is reading writing speaking and listening in Spanish and that is a very different thing from being bilingual we are biliterate because we can read and write in Spanish and that is the greatest benefit to being in the program the other thing that I would like to share is that the earlier we start our students learning a a second language or even a third language more able they are to take in the information they're able to translate language and work between 2 languages or 3 languages in order to make sense of their learning and the earlier that we start that the more we are beneficial in obtaining that language and actually graduating with the Seal of biliteracy I'd also like to highlight the students that come to us speaking English only they are capable of learning in another language particularly in Spanish and I'd like to also say that I am a very proud mother of a student who is an bilingual program and he is in a home that we only speak English and he speaks Spanish he's able to read write speak and listen in Spanish as a sixth grader so I I see the benefits not only as a proud principal but as a mother of having a child in a bilingual program so those are just some fun facts about why it is important to consider dual language for your child we are open for enrollment now so please consider enrolling your child now we start in kindergarten thank you so much so my name is Maria Madrid and I teach the dual immersion third grade class and uh 1 of the benefits of the dual immersion is that um students don't have to lose their primary language or the maternal language they can keep that that as they're learning a new language uh the same another benefit is that students work towards achieving by literacy in both Reading Writing in English and Spanish uh all the way through high school and and that's a plus they'll be ready for a global uh World economy uh culturally ready to communicate with grandparents and and family members that only speak 1 language so that's a plus and eventually when they have a business or they want to um go and um and to the world for their careers they'll be ready to have more than 1 language perfect hello my famous rocalla and I would like to share um my experience with both my children being in the Dual language uh program my children right now are in third and second grade and they have actually been in dual emergence and kindergarten I have had amazing experience with uh with both my children they are learning really fast I believe and I feel that the Dual dual emerging program helps them with the reading for some reason I'm not sure why but there's something about them being in the dual immersion that that they are excelling and reading both English and Spanish also feel that being that we're Hispanic Latin it's important that we know Spanish as well as English obviously but um being that eventually they'll graduate from the bi literacy be with the B the Seal of bi literacy it makes me feel proud proud of them uh I um I just feel that it's just an amazing experience seeing them read use the accent actually they've been correcting me when I try to pronounce the word um that that's not how you say it Mom this is how you say it so it's just an amazing feeling and they can read both English and Spanish text messages so I cannot hide anything from them uh so it's just been great and I will continue to put my children um in the dual immersion program I also have a little baby that once he is at age I will be also putting him in a dual immersion program uh thank you very much for listening to me
